So you've stumbled across my journal somehow? Welcome!
I thought it would be nice to have a post all the way at the top of the journal that would let people talk to me, or ask questions. I know it's hard to find contact info sometimes, and I for one don't like posting unrelated stuff in someone's posts. So here's your chance. The post is screened, so don't worry what someone else will think of it. :o)
Before you continue to browse, though, here's something to keep in mind:
First Aid
If swallowed: Go to the nearest public place, run in a continuous figure eight pattern while yelling "I'm a pretty butterfly!" at the top of your lungs while flailing your arms in the air until you feel better.

...I never knew chickens (or any bird) could get the hiccups.
But today after work I went into the chicken house on the daily easter-egg hunt and there was Ducky, one of my Gold-Laced Wyandotte cockerels. He'd hiccup, then shake his head. A few seconds later, he'd do it again.
I went back to the house for the camera to video it, but by the time I got back he was cured. *sigh*
Weirdest. Thing. Ever. *giggle*

Thought I'd post a pic of the new chickens. This is them after a week of babying. They look a million times better than they did before. I'd post before-and-afters, but I've found that these are the first pics I've taken of them (other than the OMG bloody butt! freak out a few days ago).

Okay, so last post I mentioned the overwhelming guy-ness of my flock of chickens and guineas (1 girl out of 4 guineas, 1 girl out of 6 chickens).
So I asked a local egg-farmer (who brings eggs to the grocery store I work at) where they got their hens. She told me that they got theirs new every year and got rid of the old ones every October and would I like a few? I said 'all right, I'd like four. How much are they?' 'Oh, you can just have them!'
Whoo. Hoo! Free hens to even out the flock! Yay!
Well, I went and picked them up last night. Drove out to their farm last evening, got the big box out of the car and tracked her and her hubby out around the barn where I could see a decent-sized chicken house and a nice big run with a bunch of big, fluffy, happy brownish-red chickens walking around in it.
Oops, not those chickens! The ones in the barn!

So... anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with her? The other three are picking at her a bit now, but I don't know if they were picking at her and that's why she's like that, or they're picking at her because she's like that. Sort of a 'which came first...' question, I guess.

Long time no see!
Lots of stuff's been going on since my last post! First off, the backup comp that I was using? Yeah, it died shortly after that post. Argh! Not exactly rolling in $$, it took a long time to replace it. Not having a working computer, I didn't bother with Internet (really, what would be the point?), and it took a while to get that back. But now I'm back (knock on wood)!
And my files are still on the dead and deader computers. Argh.
But there was still some pics in my camera's memory of some of the things that have been going on in the Dark Ages here, so I'll post some of them. Unfortunately, the pics of the Super Sekrit thing I mentioned last post (yes, it did get done, yay!) are on the Deader comp, but here's some of the rest of what's been going on:

Uh, yeah. I haven't been around since pretty much the day after my last post.
I went to bed that night and everything was fine, got up the next morning to find that the computer had turned itself off sometime during the night and now it won't turn on again. :( I don't have the $ to fix it or get another one, hence the not-being-around. :/ I'm on a different comp here; figured it was about time I made a post just in case anyone out there was wondering where I went.
Rattie, a belated happy birthday to you! {{{huggles}}} I hope you had a great day! I have a little something here for you, which I really have to get down to the post. In other semi-related news: Do you like irises? I have to thin out my flowerbed (the poor things are about six layers deep; it's really overdue) and if you like them, I could send a few along when I mail your pressie. They're "Blue Flag" irises and I originally dug them up from where they were growing on the riverbank (might be escaped domestic or wild, who knows. Pretty, though). They're quite poisonous, too. Speaking of which, do you remember where you got your mandrake? I haven't had any luck finding anyone who sells them... :/
Everyone else -- As for fic updates: it might be a while, since (you guessed it) the files are on the unresponsive comp. Wah! :((
On the up-side, the broke comp means that I am making amazing headway on a project I've been wanting to do for years now, so that's good. Yay! It's still a Big Sekrit right now, but if it turns out I'll post piccies when it's finished. ^-^

Another selling post! (If you missed it the post with my music collection is here. There's still lots of stuff there! Please don't be shy! 95% of the CDs are 'like new', and if I get $5 apiece, I'm happy!)
This time, I'm hoping to sell some guinea pigs. Not the real ones! These little guys are crochet all the way! They're the size of a real baby guinea pig (they fit in my palm), are very clean and quiet, and don't eat very much.
They take about 1 1/2 hours to make, from my own pattern (also for sale). I'm also willing to do commissions if you want your own guinea pig made up. I hate to part with them, but they're the next casualty in the effort to get enough money to move. :/
This is a non-smoking house, though I do have 3 cats. The yarn is 100% acrylic and the stuffing is polyester fiberfill. Nose/mouth detail is done with cotton embroidery floss.
I have 10 made up and ready to go, check them out! ^-^
As before, PayPal is preferred, but I will also accept postal money orders or concealed cash (at your own risk!). I'm perfectly willing to ship worldwide.
